Atlas Labradors is located in picturesque Bethlehem, Connecticut. Bethlehem is a small New England town with a focus on agriculture and community. Lovingly referred to by residents as "Christmas Town", we are known for our yearly old-fashioned Christmas Festival. We are located 2 hours from New York City and under 2 hours from three major airports.
Atlas Labs is a family owned and operated by Jessica Bruen and Nicholas Paproski. Jessica is a life-long equestrian and animal husbandry enthusiast with a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Science. Jess worked as a Veterinary Technician for several years before starting to raise and show Labradors. Nick is a retired career Fireman & Critical Care Paramedic, and is currently the Head Animal Control Officer for the towns of Bethlehem and Assistant ACO for Woodbury Connecticut.
We have five children who also help raise and socialize our puppies from the day they are whelped until the day they go home. Our kids have all been "raised in the whelping box" and are an integral part of sending home well-socialized and "kid proofed" puppies. Our puppies are used to a busy, loud home and lots of toddler cuddles which helps immensely when a new puppy is transitioning to a new, potentially different environment.
We have a commitment to fully health testing any dog we breed according to OFA Standards, while carefully choosing our future generations according to temperament, conformation, and health. Raising puppies is serious business, and we make sure to give ours the best start possible by implementing Jane Killion's Puppy Culture protocols with every litter we bring into the world. We also follow the AviDog program which is constantly introducing new scientific information to the breeding world which keeps breeders up to date on everything canine. When you combine health, husbandry, and top-notch genetics, you get a Labrador puppy that will be an excellent companion for years to come.
